Spoilers. To hide a spoiler: !Secret text! It's my personal favorite Rockstar game ever made and my absolute favorite game of all time. I honestly think it's held up extremely well and possibly better than the other Rockstar games.I love pretty much every major Rockstar Game I've played, but if there's one thing about a lot of the Rockstar Games, it's the fact that there's usually one thing about each game that makes it just a bit harder to go back and play them again. For example, GTA 3-San Andreas controls haven't aged extremely well in my opinion. GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption have introductory missions that can sort of take too long to get through if you just want to get right to the meat and potatoes of the story mode. These, of course, don't stop these games from being some of the best games of all time, but they are worth noting in my opinion. This is one of the reasons Bully shines, in my opinion.
The controls are not too far off from your standard brawler so it's pretty fun in that regard. Also, the introductory missions really don't take all that long to complete (About 30 min to an hour in my experience) and they do a great job of establishing your character, the main villain and the main goal of the game.Sorry if I wrote more than you asked for, I just get excited to talk about Bully sometimes. It's still an incredibly good game. It's definitely got it's issues here and there.(the PC version in particular apparently crashes a bunch, which I thankfully haven't experienced but it's worth mentioning), but I really think it's held up incredibly well.
I've played through it at least 10 times and I never really get tired of it. I think if you enjoy Rockstar games for the story, you'll definitely enjoy this. If you enjoy them for the fun of running around and causing mayhem, I'd get it anyway just because of how cheap it is, but you probably won't get much out of it. The PC has quite a few issuesWhich I did mention in my original post, albeit I could have gone more in detail with it, but I just haven't had very many problems with it myself so I didn't feel the need to go too deep into it.The mouse and keyboard controls haven't had much thought put into themDefinitely should have brought this up in my original comment. The PC controls are no doubt bad.And the game was already quite glitchy before it was ported to PC.Can you explain this?
I can't comment on the Wii version, but I played countless hours on the PS2 and 360 and don't remember there being that many glitches at all. I remember the usual open-world glitchiness here and there and I remember it having a bit of a problem with draw distance, but nothing really took away from the game for me.It's certainly playable, especially on modern hardware with sufficient power, but it won't be a smooth and frustration free experience.Again, really didn't have any problems with running the PC version and I've played it a bunch. The only real issue I have is the fact that i's locked at 30 fps, but I really don't think it's too big of an issue. That being said, I do know that some people have been having quite a few issues and that's a damn shame. I really wish Rockstar would release some sort of patch or something for the PC version, because the fact that people are reportedly having this many problems and they seemingly haven't done anything to fix it is shitty. I guess that's just how Rockstar is with PC in general. I can't comment on the Wii version, but I played countless hours on the PS2 and 360 and don't remember there being that many glitches at all.The PC version is based on the Xbox 360 Scholarship Edition and it had its fair share of issues:A long list of bugs and glitches can be found here:Again, really didn't have any problems with running the PC version and I've played it a bunch. The Steam forums are full of people entirely unable to even launch the game.
And even if, there are texture loading issues, crashes and bugs hitting a substantial amount of users.I, personally, was able to finish Bully on PC a couple of years ago. It was definitely playable (with a controller), but it did crash at least once per hour, I had to do some manual driver overrides to fix the foliage, I was hit by texture loading issues (floor missing inside the school) and some missions broke and had to be restarted more than once (especially the snowball fight was very buggy). This is very much a 'YMMV' kind of game.
