Natural Minor Scale Guitar
Mar 26, 2012 A guitar lesson showing you how to play the 5 positions of the Natural Minor Scale - also known as the aeolian mode which is a minor mode built from the 6th degree of the diatonic major scale. That means that a basic C major scale fingering, is in reality also a fingering for an A minor scale, if you are thinking of A as the root of the scale. Though this fingering does not neatly go from A to A, you are playing the full range of the notes in an A minor scale in that position. A natural minor scale is taken from the major scale of the same name, but with the third, sixth, and seventh degrees lowered one half step. Playing minor scales on the guitar is simply a matter of following the pattern shown below.
